Encountering Innovation (EI) connects emerging technologies with validated Department of War needs. Through technology pitches, one-on-one matchmaking, Tech Scout engagement, and commercialization support, EI helps innovators accelerate the transition of dual-use solutions from concept to operational impact. The annual Tech Showcase serves as the centerpiece of that mission, bringing together innovators, Department of War stakeholders, industry partners, and ecosystem resources to discover promising technologies and create meaningful pathways for defense transition. Beyond the Showcase, EI continues to support its innovator community by identifying and sharing follow-on opportunities, matching technologies with emerging Department of War needs, and connecting the best-fit small businesses from the entire EI cohort—from 2017 through the present—with new pathways for engagement, experimentation, and transition.
